We Three Kings - Organ
This setting for organ was originally conceived for saxophone quintet and reinterprets the original carol in a jazz-influenced style. In addition to swung eighth notes and syncopated rhythms, parallel motion and quartal sonorities color the harmonic fabric. Framed by a layered ostinato, the first and last verses of the carol are set in a five-voice texture. The three kings, depicted in the inner verses of the carol, are represented by three distinct solos.
